Develop and hone your skills to provide comprehensive practical support to people experiencing family violence. Build on your existing understanding and experience to explore the complexity of risk and how to make accurate assessments and understand client-led and client-centered interventions. Using case-based learning, you will learn how to make in-depth risk assessments and develop safe strategies and plans to provide effective and useful support for people experiencing family violence. Great connection between practice and theory. The facilitators had deep understanding of the subject matter and were able to share relevant updates from the research and family violence sector. This has definitely extended my family violence intervention practice approach.
The facilitators made it easy to understand and interactive. I found it useful the idea of ways to respond and look at the ways in which victim survivors are resisting violence.
The various concepts and models were useful and deepened my understanding of the complexities and nuances of family violence; the facilitators are knowledgeable and engaging; the video tools were insightful; the exercises were thought provoking and challenging.

This training is for those who are skilled in working with people who are experiencing family violence. Building on the concepts of entrapment, resistance and response-based practice at level 1 and 2, this level 3 training is focused on becoming agents for systemic change.
This one-day training is an opportunity to explore the impact of family violence on children. This is a practical and interactive day which will help develop skills in safe, effective responses. The training builds understanding of how children experience family violence, coercive control and entrapment drawing on emerging research and practice in this field, alongside a child rights perspective under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The training deepens understanding of social entrapment, looking at social and systemic inequities and at children’s experience of the Family Court in the context of family violence. The training includes recognising and honouring children’s resistance, the importance of language, and responding to children experiencing violence to promote safety and wellbeing.
